MORE THAN 60 roads across Wokingham will be improved as part of the council's latest £4.8 million road repair plan.

The Wokingham Borough Council decided on 67 roads across the borough should be included on their 2021-22 plan, including Reading Road in Winnersh, Lower Earley Way in Earley, Hyde End Road in Shinfield, Broadwater Lane in Hurst, and Denmark Street, Wokingham.

A number of footways across the borough will also be repaired across 14 locations.

The repair plan includes 28 full resurfacing schemes, 20 surface dressing schemes and 19 microasphalt schemes.

Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport, said: “We have an unwavering commitment to invest in our road network, with £13million invested or earmarked for spending on maintenance across the borough over the last few years.

“We know our motorists and cyclists expect their journeys around the borough to be smooth and keeping our roads maintained to a high standard helps us to do this.

"But they also expect journeys to be smooth even when we’re carrying out these improvements, so we work overnight or off-peak during the day to ensure we aren’t disrupting journeys on key routes."

The road repairs come as a part of the Wokingham Borough Council's series of improvements to roads and travel, including the £124 million major highways programme, and the construction and extensions of a number of park and rides in the borough.
