A bank in Ascot has announced it will be closing its doors later this year.

Earlier this week, TSB officially confirmed it will be closing its bank on Ascot High Street on June 10, 2021.

The bank has made the decision to close in the summer as part of a wider store review.

One of the main reasons for its closure is the vast majority of everyday transactions being done digitally.

A survey from Ascot's TSB bank shows 67 per cent of customers are now using mobile, online or telephone banking.

Figures also show 82 per cent of personal and 76 per cent of business customers are choosing to use different branch or channel instead.

A spokesman for TSB said: "We’ve looked carefully at our Ascot branch at 21 High Street, Ascot, Berkshire, SL5 7JE and how it is used, and we’ve taken the decision to close it. The way customers bank with us is rapidly evolving with the vast majority of everyday transactions now being done digitally. Over 2.1 million of our customers now choose to bank online, and over 1.3 million use our Mobile

Banking App.

"Even prior to COVID-19 customers were choosing other ways to bank with us, with 50 per cent using services at our cash machines, and 20 per cent using a Post Office. Over 190,000 customers have been supported through our new online chat service, helping them with queries and other services.

TSB customers have been told they can visit the Camberley branch which is 7.8 miles away or the Slough branch.
