THE WOKINGHAM Borough Council has decided to move some of its polling stations across the borough.

The council announced the decision earlier this week, in order to keep in line with ongoing Coronavirus restrictions.

They apply to the up-and-coming local and Police Crime Commissioner elections, taking place on May 6.

The changes to polling stations are below:

The former polling station Shinfield Parish Hall is now at The Baptist Church Hall, Fairmead Road, Shinfield;

The former polling station Hare Hatch Village Hall is now at Wargrave Pavillion;

The former polling station St John's Ambulance, HQ, Woodley is now at St Johns Church, Woodley;

The former polling station Mobile Unit at Warren Public House, Hurst, is now at Hurst Village Hall;

The former polling station Norreys Evangelical Church is now at The Cornerstone, Norreys Avenue, Wokingham.

If more polling stations need to be moved, then Andrew Moulton will confer with local ward members before deciding on any additional change of locations.

Andrew Moulton, assistant director governance, said: “As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, we want to make people aware that there may be a polling station change in their area.

"Our top priority in planning for these elections is to ensure that all polling stations are safe.

"There is also still time to apply for a postal vote, and I would encourage residents to do so in good time before the deadline of 5pm on Tuesday, April 20, especially for residents who are shielding."
