Exciting designs for the new Wimpy restaurant heading to Bracknell have been given the go-ahead as discussions around opening dates begin.
Planning permission had already been secured for the burger-chain to turn an empty space in Princess Square into a new sit-down and takeaway eatery.
Now it appears the community-favourite is one step closer to returning to the town after designs for the front of the restaurant were given the go-ahead by planners.
Drawings show the restaurant will feature the chain’s updated logo will be emblazoned across the top of Unit 1 with more decorative hoarding placed on the window.
Plans for associated signs attached to the unit have also been approved.
Following the approvals, the News asked Wimpy to comment with an update on when work will start.

In response, a spokesperson for the brand said: “We are pleased that our plans for Wimpy Bracknell have moved a step closer and I can confirm we are in talks with the landlord and the franchisee with regard to potential opening dates.
“It is likely that this will be in the second half of the year, however at this point I am unable to commit to a firm timetable.
“We are very excited about bringing the Wimpy brand to the town and as soon as we have any news, we will be delighted to share it with the people of Bracknell.”

Bracknell had a Wimpy restaurant in the 1980s before, like many other of the chain’s eateries across the country, it closed.
The restaurant is renowned for its burger choices including the ‘bender-in-a-bun’.
Wimpy opened its first site in London in 1954 and became a global brand by 1970.

Huge queues were spotted at Wimpy’s new restaurant in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire last weekend.
