CONSTRUCTION of a brand-new artificial sports pitch in Arborfield has been completed this week.

The brand new 3G pitch, now fully complete, comes alongside the construction progress new school built for the area in Arborfield, Wokingham (which is yet to be opened).

Although the sports site will be available to residents to use outside of school hours, the site will be predominantly used by pupils attending the Farley Hill Primary School.

Cllr UllaKarin Clark, executive member for children’s services, said: “The new school in Arborfield is an example of where we are not only providing school places but the community facilities needed in the area.

“The completion of this all-weather sports pitch is another key milestone as we continue construction through the winter.

"I’m delighted to see the school, and all its associated facilities, really taking shape ahead of the opening later this year."

The new school site, currently under the construction of Reds10, will hold 420 pupils as well as a nursery. It also has planning permission to expand the school to suit 630 pupils if necessary.

Reds10’s CEO, Paul Ruddick, said: “We are always pleased when one of our projects includes a community element.

"The sports pitch will provide a great sports facility for the community and we are proud to have completed it alongside our major development work on the complex, in a matter of weeks.

"We are looking forward to seeing it being used soon.”
