South Lake is the area of Wokingham that recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases last week.

Public Health England has broken down the data to show the number of confirmed cases recorded in local neighbourhoods, which are known as Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs).

The latest figures show 328 people tested positive for the virus in Wokingham between January 23 and January 30. That’s 137 fewer than the previous week.

They also show that around one in 10 (9.9 per cent) tests conducted in Wokingham are coming back positive.

In South Lake, 29 people tested positive for the virus, between January 23 and January 30.

There were 27 confirmed cases in Shinfield, 26 in Woodley East, 24 in Wokingham Town and 21 in Earley.

Lower Earley South recorded 21 cases and Winnersh recorded 19.

There were 19 cases in Lower Earley South and 16 Woodley South.

Another 16 tested positive for the virus in Spencers Wood and Swallowfield.

When the second national lockdown was lifted on December 2, Wokingham’s seven-day infection rate stood at 128.6 cases per 100,000 people.

It peaked at 607.2 on January 4, when Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the third national lockdown.

But it now stands at 191.7, after 328 confirmed cases were recorded over seven days.
