FLOODING could affect parts of Wokingham following the heavy rain earlier today, the Environment Agency has warned.
Flood alerts are currently in force near the River Emmbrook as a result of heavy rain today (January 29).
The Environment Agency said river levels have risen 'as a result of a period of sustained rainfall'.
A spokesperson said: "Property flooding is not currently expected. River levels have risen on the Emm Brook as a result of a period of sustained rainfall. Therefore, flooding of roads and farmland is possible later today 29/01/2021, especially in the Wokingham area. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours." The environment agency expect river levels to remain high over the weekend.
Residents are asked to remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.
