The resident told the News she was due to have her second dose at Waitrose HQ on Monday, January 11, but she was turned away.

She said: " I can tell you I was heartbroken as I am 85-years-old and was hoping to have the lovely relationship I have had with my two daughters and two granddaughters again.

"Also my son and his family in New Jersey were hoping to fly over this year and I haven't seen them in person for 5 years so I was hoping to get 2nd jab before then."

June said two other residents were also turned away for their second Covid vaccine.

None of which were told that their appointments had been cancelled.

June believes it was Berkshire Primary Care who cancelled the appointments.

Another resident who was looking forward to getting her second dose of the Pfizer vaccine was 105-year-old Margaret Schaap.

Yesterday, the Bracknell News reported how she had returned to the Waitrose Covid-19 clinic to get her second dose when she was 'unexpectedly turned away'.

Bracknell News:

Margaret Schaap, 105, was the first person in Bracknell to receive the Covid vaccine

Her daughter Sue said: "Today I've taken her to get her 2nd vaccination, as per the appointment booked at the time, and she was turned away. She was not notified not to come.

"She is so distraught. This is quite the opposite story to the one from 3 weeks ago!"

East Berkshire Clinical Commissioning Group, who oversee Berkshire Primary Care – the group administering the vaccine at Waitrose HQ, why residents are being turned away for their second dose.

They said: "We are aware of an instance where a patient recently attended the Waitrose site for their second jab having not been contacted to re-schedule their appointment and we would like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Berkshire Primary Care have since been in touch with the family to explain the reasons behind the change and to apologise for the error.

""The re-scheduling of appointments for residents aged 80 and over to receive their second dose of the Covid vaccine has been taking place locally in line with these national changes."
