ROAD resurfacing works across Wokingham have now begun this week, starting with 12 key roads across the borough.

The £1.7 million road-repairing project started earlier this week on January 11, and will continue until the end of March in order to repair main travel routes across the borough.

The roads being worked on during spring include Basingstoke Road, Swallowfield, Nine Mile Ride, Finchampstead, Milestone Avenue, Charvil, Eversley Road, Arborfield, New Wokingham Road, Crowthorne, Wargrave Road, Twyford, Hurst Road, Twyford, Barkham Ride, Finchampstead, Barkham Street, Barkham, as well as Rushey Way, Earley, Butts Hill Road, Woodley, and Headley Road, Woodley.

Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport, said: “We continue to invest in our road network with thousands of residents already seeing benefits from improvements on more than 100 roads across the area.

“Working on key transport routes across the area will help to ensure when road use increases again we’ll be able to provide even more of our residents with smooth, safe journeys whether travelling in their vehicles, on public transport or by bike.
