A NEW phone mast is set to go up by a sewage treatment centre in Bracknell.

This is just one of three interesting plans validated by the council in the past week.

Erection of lattice tower at sewage treatment centre (planning reference 20/01027/FUL).

Mobile network giants EE are hoping to put up a 30 metre-high lattice tower, three antennas, dishes and other transmission equipment at the site of Thames Water’s sewage treatment works centre on Bog Lane in Bracknell.

Bracknell News:

A statement from planning consultants applying on behalf of EE read: “The purpose of this site is to provide EE customers new 4G (and a later date 5G service when utilising rail services between Martins Heron and Ascot stations).

“The site will also provide coverage to the immediate area.

“The height of the mast has been decided by EE’s radio engineer as the lowest capable of providing the required coverage.”

The application comes with a certificate from the International Commission on non-ionising Radiation to indicate the plans are in full compliance with their requirements of the radio frequency public exposure safety guidelines.

Bracknell News:

One neighbour has already objected to the proposal, however, writing: “This application should be refused due to the detrimental effect on visual amenities in the area, upheld by repeated precedents of refusals for similar mast applications in the same location.”

Erection of masts and fencing at Ascot golf course (20/01023/FUL)

Bosses at Lavendar Park Golf Course on Swinley Road in Ascot want to put up a new 15-metre-high mast-cum-mesh-fence by the site’s driving range.

The new protection would replace the existing seven-metre-high fence currently standing a the range.

Bracknell News:

A statement from golf course bosses reads: “Although the height of the fence is increasing, the new masts and mesh fence will not be detrimental to the green belt and maintain the separation and openness of the wide site due to the advancements of the boundary technology.

“The increased height is to improve the general facilities to the driving range and avoid stray balls going over the neighbouring boundary.”

New stable blocks in Binfield (20/00127/FUL)

Land opposite Temple Park roundabout in off Binfield Road could be turned into space for use of equestrian purposes if applicants get permission to build at this location.

Applicants want to add a stable block in the northern corner of the site, create a new driveway and retrospectively obtain permission for already-installed 1.9 metre-high gates.

Bracknell News:

A statement from the planning hopefuls read: “The proposed development is acceptable in principle and makes efficient use of land that provides appropriate riding facilities, which includes full accessibility for disabled riders.

“At present, disabled riders have to travel to locations as far away as Thatcham (Berkshire), Dummer (Hampshire) and Cranleigh (Surrey) to access appropriate facilities, and therefore the proposals would allow for the creation of appropriate facilities within the Bracknell/Wokingham locality.”

Like with all applications mentioned, this proposal is pending consideration.
