Covid outbreak at supermarket

Bracknell News:

Tesco in Martins Heron confirmed a 'small number of staff' had tested positive for COVID-19.

The store has not closed, despite having coronavirus cases.

2. Decision made on students returning back to school

Hundreds of thousands of pupils will not return to schools and colleges as planned due to rising infection rates and the spread of the new Covid-19 variant.

On Wednesday, December 30, the government announced that some primary schools in Tier 4 areas worst hit by covid-19 would be shut.

Bracknell Forest Council has made it clear that primary schools will return the week starting Monday, January 4 2021.

3. 14 people recognised across Berkshire in New Year's Honours List

A list recognising the outstanding achievements of selfless people has been revealed in the 2021 New Year Honours.

The list seeks to recognise some of the achievements of people around the UK and as always, it includes some very well known names.

4. Oxford-Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccine approved for use in UK

Bracknell News:

A Covid-19 vaccine from Oxford University and AstraZeneca has been approved for use in the UK, paving the way for mass rollout.

The jab, which has been described as a "game changer", was given the green light by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the approval is "fantastic news" and confirmed the rollout will begin on January 4.

5. Incredible Bracknell boy donates Christmas money to help NHS

Bracknell News:

A kind-hearted school boy has donated half of his Christmas money to help NHS heroes.

The schoolboy from Crown Wood, Bracknell donated £50, half of his Christmas money after realising NHS staff "need it more".
