Bracknell's Christmas lights will be switched on today.

Large-scale public gatherings, such as Christmas lights switch-ons, have been cancelled throughout Bracknell Forest due to coronavirus restrictions.

However, the volunteers behind the lights display in The Lexicon are still making sure the town will be looking festive.

The town centre's Christmas lights team will finally turn on the lights and light up the square.

Each year, the Christmas lights switch-on attracts a large crowd of people from Bracknell Forest.

A spokesman for The Lexicon said: "While Christmas 2020 is turning out to be very different from previous years, the Christmas lights will be on at The Lexicon from December 1 2020 to welcome back visitors to the town centre.

"There is also a host of activities both online and in the town centre, which aim to put a smile on local faces throughout the festive period."

Returning this year is The Lexicon’s Christmas Wishes campaign, where anyone can nominate a friend, family or a helpful stranger for a special Christmas treat, ten of which will be granted by The Lexicon.

Councillor Ash Merry, Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest and Councillor Michael Titheridge, Bracknell Town Mayor will be helping to choose the winning wishes.
