Upgrades at Sandhurst Town Football Club (19/01085/FUL)

Results on the pitch have not been much to cheer about so far this season for Sandhurst Town, who sit 17th in the combined counties league after five losses wins from eight.

Bracknell News:

But off the pitch, the club has something to celebrate after Bracknell Forest Council gave the Fizzers planning permission for the redevelopment of their home ground.

Having played their football at Bracknell Town’s Larges Lane ground while refurbishment work at Bottom Meadow off Yorktown Road takes place, Sandhurst Town will soon have a shiny, new home ground to return to.

The redevelopment involves replacing the grass pitch with a 3G artificial surface, adding new fences and enclosures around the side of the pitch, installing a 120-seater spectator stand and relocating the existing stand, adding a new turnstile entrance and team shelters, replacing the floodlight system and more.

Bracknell News:

Having a 3G pitch will mean “increased usage” of the site for the Fizzers many youth teams and adult team.

STFC bosses have been waiting for a decision from Bracknell Forest Council for almost a year now, but the approval of the proposal was finally confirmed yesterday (Friday, November 27).

Sandhurst Town FC isn’t the only one of the borough’s football teams to be getting upgrades at their home ground.

Bracknell News:

Binfield FC will also get improvements after the council said yes to some more modest enhancements.
