A CARE home formerly rated as ‘inadequate’ has been praised for improvements it has made after being slammed by a care watchdog.

Bracknell Care Home, on Crowthorne Road, was given the Care Quality Commission’s lowest-possible score in February following an inspection in December 2019.

EXPLAINED: Why Bracknell Care Home received an 'inadequate' rating

But after CQC inspectors visited again in October 2020, the care home’s grade has been elevated to ‘requires improvement’.

The CQC did in fact rate Bracknell Care Home as ‘good’ in the three categories it was assessed on.

Bracknell News:

The home was praised for its safety, its efficacy and how well-led it was.

And although inspectors did not fully investigate how ‘caring’ and ‘responsive’ the home was, they did note improvements had been made in these categories, too.

A CQC report read: “This service has been in special measures since the publication of our last inspection report.

“During this inspection, the provider demonstrated that improvements had been made.

“The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions.

“Therefore, this service is no longer in special measures.”

Inspectors found:

  • Residents experienced safe care and treatment
  • Residents received their medicines safely, as prescribed, from staff who had completed the required training
  • Staff felt valued and well supported by the management team
  • Staff treated residents with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
  • The service was well-led, with the registered manager providing clear and direct leadership and a safe environment

Bracknell News:

A spokesperson for Four Seasons Health Care, the providers which run Bracknell Care Home, commented: “Following an inspection earlier this year, we acted immediately upon the recommendations made by the Care Quality Commission and made significant improvements which we are pleased have been recognised.

“We have received a rating of ‘good’ for all three categories that were assessed during this latest inspection including that the care home is safe, effective and well-led which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues.

“The report recognised the many strengths of this home and the positive impact this has on our residents and their safety, which remains our priority.”
