The areas of Wokingham which recorded the most cases of Covid-19 last week have been revealed.

Public Health England has broken down the data to show the number of confirmed cases recorded in local neighbourhoods, which are known as Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs).

The latest figures (published November 8) show 124 people tested positive for the virus across Wokingham, between October 27 to November 3.

Shinfield recorded the highest number (16) of confirmed cases in the Wokingham borough that week – that’s nine more than the previous week.

There were 14 cases in Wokingham Town and 11 in Twyford West and Charvil.

Lower Earley North, Wokingham East and Earley each recorded 10 cases of the virus.

In Winnersh, there were nine confirmed cases, while Sonning and Woodley (9) and Spencers Wood and Swallowfield (9) recorded 18 cases in total.

Seven people tested positive for the virus in Finchampstead.

Wokingham West and South (5) and Arborfield (5) recorded 10 cases in total.

Four people tested positive for Covid-19 in Barkham and Woosehill and another four tested positive in Wokingham North and Hurst.

While Crowthorne North recorded three cases.

Everyone living in Wokingham was covered by medium alert (Tier 1) restrictions until a second national lockdown began on November 5.

The government says “we will return to a regional approach, based on the latest data” after the four-week lockdown ends on December 2.

So far, Wokingham has recorded 1,550 confirmed cases and 160 people have died after contracting the virus.
