A kind-hearted boy has been praised by England footballer Marcus Rashford for helping feed hungry children.

New Scotland Hill primary school student Freddie went out of his way during half-term to donate food and toiletries to his local foodbank.

The Year 4 pupil from Bracknell even used his own birthday and pocket money which he saved to buy items to help those who are less fortunate.

Proud of his generosity, the school tweeted: "Something very special happened today. Freddie in y4, using his birthday and pocket money, followed his hero, Marcus Rashford in helping out those who need it."

Freddie's efforts were recognised by the Manchester United player, and he replied back saying: "Love this Freddie x"

Acts of kindness has been proven across the Bracknell Forest community in response to Marcus Rashford's campaign to help hungry children.

The footballer wants the government to provide free lunches amid fears for incomes as coronavirus restrictions increase.

His Parliamentary petition says that "no child should be going hungry" and more than a million people have signed his campaign calling for children from poor families in England to get free meals in school holidays.

Freddie from Bracknell felt inspired by his campaign to help others within his local community.

Many residents responded to his selfless act, posted tweet such as: "Freddie is amazing! It would mean the word to that young man to walk out on the pitch as your mascot @MarcusRashford. Thank you for all your hard work in supporting our nation and inspiring the next generation to do amazing things like Freddie did."
