A MAN is in hospital with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain having been "punched in the face and knocked unconscious" by an attacker.

The victim, a man in his thirties, was assaulted between Bracknell Stores and the Tenterden guest house on Wokingham Road on Sunday, October 18, at 11.50am.

Thames Valley Police said: "He was punched in the face and knocked unconscious during the assault."

The force explained at 2.55pm on the same day, the victim collapsed in Millbanke Court and was later air-lifted to hospital.

The victim has suffered a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain and remains in hospital at this time.

A 36-year-old man from Bracknell has been arrested in connection with this attack and has been released on police bail until November 15, 2020.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Alex Coyne, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “I am appealing to anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward.

“Several members of the public helped the victim after the assault on Wokingham Road and I would ask them to get in touch.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have seen the victim between 11.50am and 2.55pm to get in touch, as well as to anyone who was in either of the areas at the time to check their dash-cam footage or video doorbell.

“The victim is a man in his thirties and was wearing a black jacket and blue shorts and carrying a green bag for life.

"Following the assault, he would have appeared unsteady on his feet.
