A young woman who was stood to the side of a car on the driveway claimed to be looking for a car that had been advertised for sale, before making off herself shouting swearwords at the homeowner.

Police said a photo of an expensive car had been taken in Frensham Road and circulated on social media.

The force said: "It is possible that the trio were attempting to locate it, and their actions suggest they were more likely to have intentions to steal it or parts from it, rather than any intention to purchase it.

"If you witnessed the incident, know who the trio are or have CCTV recordings of them, you can let investigating officer PC 5126 Phil Davies know either by phoning Thames Valley Police on 101 are submitting your information on line via the force website."

Officers also believe the culprits attempted to see if house or car keys had been left in the home's hallway.

It is quite possible that the offenders were looking to see if house or car keys had been left in the house’s entrance hallway.

A warning has been sent out to residents over the increase in thefts now that "lockdown is over".

They said: "Now that Lock Down is over, thieves are free to range our streets, and as the nights close in they can operate under cover of darkness at quite an early hour. To protect your home and vehicles: Always ensure windows are closed and doors locked.

"Never leave keys within sight of front door or windows. Best to take them upstairs at night, and drop electronic “keyless” fobs in a tin to prevent offenders from scanning their signal.

"Motion activated lights at the front of your home will discourage intruders from approaching your home.

"Dashcams and CCTV also deter offenders from approaching your property."
