Fears have been raised over track and trace in the town after a dessert shop confirmed positive coronavirus cases.

Newly opened Kaspa's desserts confirmed on Monday, September 7, that two employees have tested positive for Covid-19.

They are self-isolating for 14 days under government advice.

However customers who visited the dessert shop in the past seven days are questioning whether they need to be tested for coronavirus.

Tracy Douglas pointed out how Kaspa's was busy on Sunday afternoon "without a track and trace system in place."

Carly Hutchins commented underneath the story on our Facebook Page on her visit to the dessert shop on Saturday.

She said: "Was there Saturday and no details were taken from me so not sure how this is going to pan out."

Caroline Egglestone also questioned whether the store will contact customers who have dined in, however no track and trace system was in place.

She added: "So I take it they are contacting all those that have been in there, as of course they would have had to take name and contact details for the track and trace?"

The store manager confirmed that the worker who had tested positive for coronavirus didn't come into work when they felt ill.

He said: "We wear masks and do things properly. We closed the restaurant for cleaning. Out of my team, two people have tested positive but nine have been negative. The issue is not as big as people are making it out to.

"We cannot close this business for good but I have always said to my staff that their health always comes first."

Residents who visited the store should follow the current government guidelines.
