Parents will no longer be able to take their children to a scouts group in Bracknell.

In a letter seen by the Bracknell News, the 1st Jennetts Park Scouts Group will no longer continue to run due to the coronavirus pandemic.

One mum who wishes to remain anonymous said the "children will suffer" because of the closure of the scouts group.

The letter addressed to parents on September 1 said: "It is with the greatest regret that I have to inform you that1st Jennetts Park Scout Group will not be able to provide Scouting for you and your children for the foreseeable future. This is largely due the lack of adult support made worse by the difficulties caused by the current pandemic.

"Unfortunately due to a lack of parent support, ongoing family and other work commitments, the current leadership team are not able to continue.

"1st Jennetts Park has been in existence for over 10 years now, and it is hoped and planned that when the current situational difficulties have passed, we will be able to re-open the group. We cannot say when that will be for the time being."

Current scouts members have been told that they can attend a neighbouring group in Bracknell.

The woman claims 'children will suffer' if people don't volunteer themselves.

She said: "Jennett’s park scouts is going to close because no leaders. I have offered to help many times. Other groups were offering zooms and challenges. We had no communication from the leaders at all. I volunteered to do it as a job share and other leaders have been forced out. So the children will suffer."

The resident is hoping parents will step up to volunteer so the Scouts group can continue to serve the community.

We have contacted the Scouts group for further comment.
