READING'S first live post-lockdown comedy show is to take place this weekend.

Mates Rates Comedy Show, an organisation that hosts comedians in Central Reading, has announced they are returning for Reading's first comedy show since before lockdown.

The show is set to take place outdoors in The Purple Turtle on Sunday, September 6, from 6-8pm.

Founder of Mates Rates Comedy Nick Byard said “It is great to be part of live comedy’s return to Reading, albeit in a responsible and socially distanced format."

Partner and MC Carl Richard said “I am looking forward to performing. The show has a real buzz about it.”

Headlining the event is President Obonjo, with Geoff Steel, Tara Newton-Wordsworth and Sadia Azmat as supporting comedians and comediennes.

Organisers have stated however that the lineup is subject to change.

Due to social distancing, tickets are only available in advance. Box Office closes at 11:30pm on Saturday 5 September.
