A woman 'burst into tears of joy' after a local diving company helped find her wedding ring.

Crowthorne company Divecrew came to the rescue to help Mr and Mrs Church when her platinum and diamond ring flung into the river.

Lisa Church was uncovering her boat when a large boat spider crawled across her hand and scared the life out of her.

She flicked her hand to get the creepy crawly off and with that her ring flew into the air, hit the side of her boat and rolled off into the water.

She was devastated and convinced it was lost forever.

Her partner Chris phoned Divecrew and an experienced diver was sent to help retrieve the ring.

Diver Martin said: “Divecrew will do what we can in the community to help. This was an immense challenge and I so wanted to make sure I found the ring for Lisa as it meant so much to her.

"The hardest thing is working in zero visibility and becoming disorientated. Care was needed not to disturb the bottom otherwise; the ring could be buried by mistake. It was worth the long search in poor conditions though; just to see the beaming smile on Lisa’s face after the tears of joy."

However, the hardest thing for diver Martin was being able to orientate himself on the search area as there was so much blanket weed and silt.

After one hour of being underwater nothing found. But as the diver was just about to come up once again to reset the search area the underwater metal detector vibrated meaning it had found something and finally, the diver found the ring.

Coming straight to the surface holding the ring aloft, Lisa burst into tears of joy. The search was taking so long she feared the worst.
