A loving grandma celebrated turning 100-years-old by seeing her daughter through a window.

Jean Davies, a resident at Wokingham's Sunrise of Sonning care home, celebrated her birthday on August 19

With coronavirus switching things up this year, Jean wasn't allowed to see her family face-to-face, so staff organised for her daughter to socially distanced visit by her bedroom window.

Jean also had a birthday call with her grandchildren and her grandson prepared a video compilation from her distant relatives.

She has a large family located around the world.

On her birthday, Jean had a nails, hair and make-up done and enjoyed a slice of homemade birthday cake.

Jean explained what the secret is to living to 100, she said: “My life advice would be to stay close to the family, involve them in your life. "Family support is very important. There is a lot of experience and knowledge that your parents and the rest of the family have. Ask them for advice and listen to what they say. They are saying it for a reason. They want to help you. You might not like their advice, but they have a reason for saying it.

“Ask them, involve them and stay close to them. You will never be alone if you support your family and they will support you in return”.

"The cake and all the little extras helped make the day, this will be a day our family will remember.”
