A COVID 'hotspot' area in Bracknell Forest has been revealed, with nine confirmed cases.

According to an interactive map, which uses data from Public Health England, nine confirmed cases of Covid-19 are all linked to the same area of the county - Ascot and North Ascot East.

The map splits the country up by Middle Super Output Area (MSOA), which are small areas with an average population of 7,200. The data is updated every weekday, and the map shows the latest seven days for which complete data is available.

At the time of writing, the data included lab-confirmed positive cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) reported by August 24 with specimen dates between August 15 and August 21.

The only shaded area in Bracknell Forest was the Ascot and North Ascot East MSOA, with nine confirmed cases in that timeframe.

The map is designed to show potential hotspots for the virus, with areas that have had between zero and two cases confirmed in that time frame not being shaded.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, there have been 405 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Bracknell since the start of the pandemic.

The rate of infection in Dorset now stands at 331 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 503.
