THE beautiful weather we've had lately, coupled with slowly easing out of lockdown restrictions, makes for the perfect excuse for a picnic.
As we are gradually allowed to meet up with friends again, sitting outdoors catching some rays at a pretty park with some snacks (and maybe a drink or two!) seems an ideal way to catch up while maintaining social distancing.

1. Windsor Great Park
We couldn't have a list of picnic spots without including this local beauty!
Home to 4,800 acres of sweeping parkland, award-winning gardens, ancient woodland and forest trails that are just waiting to be explored.
There is something for everyone within Windsor Great Park, at any time of year.
Just bring along a picnic blanket and some friends and enjoy the scenery.
2. Lily Hill Park, Bracknell
Lily Hill Park is a beautiful, spacious green space surrounded by woodland.
It also features the longest picnic table in The UK - what more could you want?
The historical park is popular for with walkers, runners, and those just wanting to lay back and relax for a few hours.
It includes woodlands, formal gardens and some unique wooden sculptures.
3. Caversham Court Gardens
Caversham Court is a public garden and was a mansion located on the north bank of the River Thames in Caversham, Reading.
Bursting with beauty and history, the gardens recently won the prestigious Green Flag Award, as well as a Green Heritage Site award again in 2019.
For a picnic with a relaxing view of the river and surrounded by nature in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Reading, look no further.
4. Dinton Pastures Country Park, Wokingham
Dinton Pastures is a park in the civil parish of St Nicholas Hurst, in the borough of Wokingham.
This park is great for providing lots to do, from activities like cycling and fishing to scooter hiring and walking.
It boasts a large area to wander around or chill with a picnic.
5. California Country Park, Finchampstead
The 100-acre space offers some beautiful and varied countryside to drink in.
Paths run through ancient bogland, past heathland and Longmoor Nature Reserve.
The park is another peaceful setting to unwind and catch up in.
6. Beale Park, Lower Basildon
Beale Wildlife Park is situated by the River Thames, between the villages of Pangbourne and Lower Basildon.
The park is home to an array of exciting animals and attractions.
7. Snelsmore Common Country Park, Newbury
Snelsmore Common is a 104-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Newbury.
It is owned by West Berkshire Council and managed by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust
It offers various different walks and has an enclosed picnic area - perfect for a laid back Saturday.
8. Welford Park, Newbury
Another Newbury gem, this park is a country house and estate in the village of Welford.
It offers more fantastic scenery and lots of history.
9. Christchurch Meadows, Reading
In the heart of Caversham, this riverside area with athletic fields, tennis courts and more offers something for everyone.
With plenty of wildlife to observe, the meadows make for the perfect picnic location.

10. Harris Garden, Reading
The Harris Garden is a botanical garden of the University of Reading.
