A WOODLAND adventure trail, a sensory zone, and tree houses are all part of plans for a play area overhaul to be built locally.

California Country Park is in line for the massive makeover as plans are revealed from Wokingham Borough Council (WBC).

The authority said the new 'destination play area' will upgrade the existing equipment and follows improvements that have been made to the cafe and car park.

WBC executive member for environment and leisure Parry Batth said: “Wokingham Borough Council is committed to creating an exciting, happy and healthy environment for our children and their families within our borough.

"That is why we are delighted to be installing a new destination play area at one our much-loved country parks.

"I am sure the children will be absolutely thrilled and love the new destination playground."

Plans include an 'inclusive sensory and water play area' as well as a new woodland adventure trail and tree houses.

There will be new surfacing and additional seating created to improve accessibility.

Residents have a chance, before work starts, to view the virtual exhibition of the changes and provide feedback on the plans.

The council said the exhibition will run from July 20 for two weeks via artsteps.com and feedback can be made publicly online, or by emailing calidestinationplay@wokingham.gov.uk

Work is expected to start on the play area in autumn when schools typically return after the summer break.
