As they could no longer promote their company at artisan markets and county shows, the pair decided to go ahead with the launch and exclusively sell their gin online.

Simone said the Bracknell News helped sales go through the roof and shows the importance of local media supporting local businesses during these unprecedented times.

She said: "We are incredibly pleased with the successful launch of our Royal Berkshire Gin; in particular with the support and enthusiasm from our customers in Bracknell and the surrounding areas.

"Our two main avenues for promoting our Gin was via the initial article in Bracknell News, and as a paid partner of We Love Bracknell Facebook page – showing the importance of local information channels for the success of local companies."

Customers across Berkshire decided to order their new Gin and the first batch 'sold out in less than two weeks'.

Ms Ray added: "Even though the majority of our normal sales channels disappeared due to the Covid-19 lockdown, we decided to push ahead with the launch of our Gin and make use of the online shop on our website, as we were hoping our customers would enjoy our products."

One resident in Bracknell posted on Facebook to say: "This gin is amazing. Tasted of fresh raspberries, nothing chemically like other flavoured gins. It’s now up there as one of my favourite gins."

Another resident added: "Absolutely wonderful gin, I am going to recommend it to my local Facebook group."

The local business launched two years ago, using recipes handed down from three generations of the Jardim family in Santa Cruz, Madeira.

For the last two years, the company has put a modern twist on the traditional liqueurs a rich coffee flavour to make Espresso Martini's and flavours to take Prosecco to the next level.

This year, their sell-out Pink gin was made last Autumn and contains fresh British Raspberries.
