UNSUSPECTING homeowners were given a shock when they caught a burglar running down their stairs and out the door having ransacked their home.

Thames Valley Police said the homeowners were saying goodbye to a guest at the back of the house when it happened.

They came back in, heard footsteps overhead which were quickly followed by the intruder running down the stairs and out the door - slamming it behind him.

The man jumped onto a bike left outside and rode off.

Police said the intruder ransacked the upstairs when it happened in Coombe Lane, Sunninghill, about 12.30pm on Friday, June 26

Nothing was taken.

It is thought he entered through the front door which was possibly left unlocked.

Thames Valley Police said the man is described as white, stocky build, about 6ft, aged between 30 and 40, wearing a grey T shirt, grey cargo shorts and a green cap.
