A RESIDENT racing driver with autism is set to be virtually racing in an international championship this weekend.

Bobby Trundley, aged 20, from Wokingham, will be iRacing in the 24 hour Le Man on Saturday, June 20.

He will be competing as the racing captain of 'Racing with Autism International' against other autistic racers from Canada and the United States.

They will also be the first team to have completed an online version of the famous 24-hour race.

Mr Trundley said: “I’m really excited for this incredible opportunity!

"Not only to take part in virtual Le Mans but to part of history.

"We’re possibly the first team to compete in a 24 hour race online on a sim, that’s a mega achievement!"

Mr Trundley, a five-time karting champion, is a driver for Team BRIT, an all-disabled team. He said that motorsport significantly helps him manage the challenges posed by autism at a very young age.

The 24 hour race will be begin at 2:15pm on Saturday, June 20, and can be watched live at iracing.com/specialevents/.
