1. Bracknell Forest Council funeral procession for employee

A FUNERAL procession passed through the town centre this morning as dozens of council employees said goodbye to a ‘well-respected’ colleague.

A horse-drawn carriage travelled down Market Street past Time Square just before 10.30 am so Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) staff could applaud their colleague, who is believed to have passed away last month having contracted coronavirus.

2. Wokingham Council leader who broke code of conduct staying on despite calls to resign

Bracknell News:

The leader of Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) is staying on despite calls to resign, after it was found he did not follow the authority’s code of conduct.

Conservative councillor John Halsall, ward member for Remenham, Wargrave and Ruscombe, did not disclose his role as a director of Campaign to Protect Rural Wokingham (CPRW), a limited company set up to fight against development in the north of Wokingham borough.

3. Kebab van refused trading license renewal by Wokingham council

Bracknell News:

A POPULAR kebab van in Wokingham has been refused trading rights by the council, despite more than 4,000 residents showing support for the business.

The BBQ King, a kebab van which has been trading in Wokingham town centre for almost 30 years, was denied a street trading license renewal by the council by decison yesterday (Wednesday, June 17), following allegations that customers smoke cannabis, get drunk and urinate in public on the site which, for four years, has been the youth centre car park on Reading Road.

4. Funeral procession for Bracknell Forest Council employee

Bracknell News:

A FUNERAL procession will pass through the town centre tomorrow as the council says goodbye to an employee who sadly passed away last month.

The ‘well-respected colleague’, who is believed to have died after contracting coronavirus, will be laid to rest at Easthampstead Park Crematorium at 11am tomorrow (Thursday, June 18).

A town councillor has been given 'a slap on the wrist' after being found to have bullied a resident.
