RAINBOWS have played a positive part as a message of hope for the NHS as they fight the pandemic.

Joe Tickner who runs Ascot Promotions was requested by his wife Thea, who is a nurse at Frimley Park Hospital, to sew a rainbow on a sweatshirt for her.

After his wife posted a picture on Instagram of her rainbow sweatshirt, she was bombarded with messages from friends and family of how they can get their hands on one.

He then came up with the idea to create an online clothing shop using the rainbow logo, with 100 per cent of profits donated to the NHS Frimley Health Foundation.

Mr Tickner said: "As a company it’s great that we have been able to focus our attention on giving back to our local hospital. When the rainbow symbol went viral it felt so obvious to us that we had to create a clothing range! At that time business was quiet and it filled my day with focusing on advertising, orders and production. But more importantly as a community it shows that we want to make a difference and show our support to the health heroes!"

Joe explained how his family has been affected by coronavirus after his wife's grandma tested positive for Covid-19.

She survived and is pictured above wearing one of the rainbow t-shirts.

He added: "The virus itself has affected my wife and I greatly. Thea is on the front line as a nurse and has struggled in her working environment being moved around on several occasions and at one point doing a stint in ICU at her hospital - Frimley Park.

"When my wife’s grandma was diagnosed and battled a gruelling stay at Frimley Park we were so worried but equally so grateful Thea could be there in the hospital as a healthcare professional looking out for her. Personally, we have had a lot of life plans put on hold, as the majority of the world it seems has also had to endure."

So far, the company Ascot Promotions has raised more than £1.500 but they'd love to raise more.
