SHOPPING in a physical town centre or clothes shop seems like a distant memory during the coronavirus lockdown.

What seemed like a standard Saturday morning trip to the Lexicon was not allowed due to government guidelines on adhering to social distancing.

In the latest announcement from the Prime Minister, all non-essential shops will be reopening on June 15.

The Lexicon is preparing to welcome more people to the town when it reopens in two weeks time.

A spokesman said: "The Lexicon is gearing-up to welcome back shoppers in line with the Government announcement to allow a wider range of retailers to re-open their doors.

"While the town centre hasn’t been closed completely during COVID 19, with food, pharmacy and other essential services remaining open, it is expected that more people will visit the town centre from June 15 2020."
