2. Mortimer resident holds charity car wash to raise money for NHS Charities Together

A MORTIMER resident who received a harsh letter from a neighbour after washing his car on bank holiday weekend has turned the situation into a positive by organising a charity car wash.

Jonathan Kempson was washing his car last Saturday before discovering a critical letter on his car the next day.

3. Campaigners call for Arthur Hill to re-open as Greenwich Leisure asks for 'significant' bailout

Reading Chronicle:

Campaigners have renewed calls for a historic pool to be re-opened after the council confirmed leisure provider Greenwich Leisure Ltd (GLL) had asked for a ‘significant’ bailout.

Plans agreed by the council to spend £43 million on two new pools and other leisure facilities are now uncertain due to the coronavirus pandemic which has forced leisure centres such as the Rivermead Centre to close indefinitely.

4. Final member of major drugs gang - which saw Burghfield man jailed - sentenced after £300,000 cocaine bust

Reading Chronicle:

The final member of a drugs gang has been sentenced to seven years in prison today (May 28) following an investigation by the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) which saw £300,000 worth of drugs being discovered.

A man from Burghfield Common, Samuel Hughes, was recently as part of the same investigation.

5. Reading-based yoga teacher raises thousands of pounds for NHS Charities Together

A READING-BASED yoga teacher has raised thousands of pounds for the NHS after hosting online yoga classes during the bank holiday weekend.

Uday Bhosale raised more than £33,000 for NHS Charities Together over the Spring bank holiday weekend by organising online yoga classes with leading yoga teachers.
