A regional coronavirus test centre will open at Wroughton park and ride from Saturday, the council has confirmed.
The test centre will be open to anyone who books a test through the government website. Anyone over the age of five with coronavirus symptoms is eligible for a free test.
The centre is expected to remain at the park and ride site on Croft Road for at least six months, Swindon Borough Council said.
It will be able to test up to 2,000 people a day.
Writing in his Adver column this week, South Swindon MP Robert Buckland said the site would offer both assisted and DIY tests.
“The new facility will help make it easier for local residents to access testing and is in addition to home tests, which can be booked through the government’s online portal, in the same way as scheduling slots for the new facility,” he wrote.
The new test centre is expected to open on Saturday, May 30.
