ORGANISERS of Royal Ascot continue to plug away with plans to hold the event behind closed doors next month.

The continuing coronavirus pandemic has forced the famous five-day summer racing event behind closed doors and away from the public.

Despite concerns the event may not go ahead, organisers have now released the running order and changes to the 2020 meeting.

The royal event will still run from June 16 to June 20 but 'unavoidably' has to be closed to the public.

Ascot Racecourse’s chief executive Guy Henderson announced in April that organisers had come to the decision to hold the races behind closed doors.

This week the latest update from organisers describe not only the running order but the extra races that are being put on as a result.

There will be seven races staged on the first four days, and eight on the final day of races (as per below).

Almost all races will be shown on ITV1, and all races shown on Sky Sports Racing.

Races start at 1.15pm Tuesday to Friday, and 12.40pm on Saturday - the final race is at 4.40pm.
