OFFICIAL figures show that 11 more cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Reading.

Public Health England figures show that 558 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am Sunday morning (May 17) in Reading, up from 547 the same time on Thursday.

A week before, there were 536 cases.

It means cases increased by 2 per cent over the three-day period, lower than the rate of increase across the UK of 5 per cent.

They were among the 20,225 cases recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 449 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 243,695 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Sunday, up from 233,151 at the same point on Thursday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show.

In total, 1,818,712 people had been tested, and, as of 5pm on Saturday, 34,636 had died.
