Despite its five star rating on Tripadvisor, the Mediterranean restaurant "didn't have the right fit" in the area and not enough customers visited.

Peter Deady, owner of Altamira, said: "The business didn't close because of what's going on with coronavirus, it has got nothing to do with that. The only reason why it hasn't closed sooner is because the sale was delayed from April.

"The business wasn't doing what it needed to do. It was fantastic on the weekends but the Tapas concept wasn't right in Crowthorne and people wanted to be full.

"It also didn't have the footfall and it was at the wrong end of the street. At night time, it's a ghost town and all the restaurants are up the other end."
