The video shows the children thanking various key workers such as NHS staff, police, teachers and supermarket workers to name a few.

They also thanked the people staying at home which in turn help those on the frontline.

A charity, the Association of Sri Lankan Muslims (ASLAM), has also been showing its appreciation to NHS staff and police.

Boxes of hot pizzas were handed over to front line NHS staff and the police by a Sri Lankan charity to show their appreciation during the coronavirus pandemic.

Reading Chronicle:

70 boxes of large pizzas were delivered to front line staff at Royal Berkshire Hospital and ten boxes to the Reading police last week.

The Chair Mr. Baazir Rahuman and members of ASLAM Executive Committee handed over the food items.

The charity said its donations were to show the appreciation of the Sri Lankan Muslim community based in Reading to the front line staff and their “commendable role and service”.

ASLAM is further involved in educating the community about the importance of staying home and taking all precautions as per public health guidelines, in combating the virus, through a series of awareness programs, on the eve of the holy month of Ramazan.

ASLAM has been also involved in many charity projects in the past, which included helping RBH.

Recently, the charity donated wheelchairs and other requirements to the Orthopaedic Unit to mark a decade in community service.

The Chair Baazir Rahuman said that one of the main priorities of ASLAM as a community organisation would be to help out those on the front-line in every way possible, who are fighting a common invisible enemy, as well as those who are vulnerable too due to this crisis.
