A NUMBER of planning applications for installing telecommunications equipment around the borough have been spotted recently.

Three separate proposals appeared on the council’s planning portal last week for the ‘removal and replacement’ of such equipment at three different sites across Bracknell Forest.

Sites on Bagshot Road in Bracknell, London Road in Binfield and Great Hollands in Bracknell have been earmarked for these additions.

According to national reports, dozens of telephone masts have been vandalised or set on fire in recent weeks over false conspiracy theories suggesting 5G is linked to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bracknell News wishes to state, for the avoidance of doubt, 5G signals are in no way linked to the spread of coronavirus.

Nevertheless, the News asked Bracknell Forest Council if these new planning applications had been submitted because telephone masts around the borough were being vandalised.

A response from the council indicated this was not the case.

A spokesperson said: “It’s quite usual for us to receive planning applications like this.

“We’ve have had no reports about masts being knocked down.”

For clarity, 5G signals are not linked to the spread of coronavirus.
