A NAIL salon, a scout group and a netball league — these are just some of the organisations which responded to an urgent call for more protective equipment for frontline healthcare workers.

Hundreds of masks, gloves, aprons, and other essential equipment has been donated after the council called for a boost to the low supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the borough.

Local businesses and community groups that have donated to the fight against coronavirus include:

  • Hollywood Nails (Princess Square)
  • EveryDay First Aid
  • Serenity Beauty (Princess Square)
  • Kosnic Lighting
  • Bracknell and District Netball League
  • 3rd Sandhurst Scout Group
  • Crowthorne Village Pre-School

Councillor Paul Bettison, leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said: “A big thank you to all the local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals who have donated to our urgent PPE appeal.

“We are seeing stock come in, but we urgently need more of this equipment, specifically face masks, to ensure that our frontline workers can continue to provide care to our most vulnerable residents.

“This is an international issue and so Bracknell Forest isn’t unique in requesting this essential equipment from the local community.

“Any equipment we receive will be shared with health organisations and care homes, so please do get in touch if you can help in any way.”

Bracknell News:

Despite the generous donations, more PPE is still needed, including surgical masks, aprons, gloves and more. For the full list, see the gallery above.

Business owners and managers, as well as community leaders and sports team organisers, are being asked to contact ppe.appeal@bracknell-forest.gov.uk if they have any equipment to give away.

The PPE sourced will go to those workers, such as domiliciary carers, occupational therapists and social workers, who are helping some of the most vulnerable people in the borough in the battle against the pandemic.

Businesses followed in the footsteps of a number of Bracknell Forest schools which donated PPE to Frimley Park Hospital recently.

A team of tailors from Garth Hill College are also being produced for workers at the hospital.
