TEAMS in Whitley have been delivering food packages to the vulnerable in the area amid lockdown.

The Whitley Community Development Association are supporting more than 100 families and individuals on a weekly basis.

Thames Valley Police posted a picture on Twitter to show them helping out the Whitley Hub.

The caption reads: "PCSO C9217 Emin and PCSO C9401 Smith have been out today helping the Whitley Hub deliver food packages to the vulnerable & hard to reach groups such as Reading's DEAF community. #thebeatingheartofwhitley."

This comes amid increasing examples of communities in Reading coming together to help vulnerable people during the coronavirus lockdown.

Police continue to patrol areas of the town, reporting that while many are sticking to lockdown rules, there are still some residents who are continuing to socialise.
