FISH have reportedly been stolen from a lake after a passersby noticed fishing lines being left behind.

Simon Harrison from the Bracknell Herons Angling Club contacted the News after a member of public reported seeing three men taking large Carp from South Hill Park.

He said: "Not only is this illegal but a danger to the public, their children and dogs, as well as the wildfowl and fish. And people who get caught will be prosecuted for breaking the covid-19 law and also theft of the fish, theft of fishing rights."

The club has contacted Police.

It comes after two swans Rosie and Rex had to be rescued from Swan Support after a walker noticed a cut on one of the swans legs.

The charity say the cuts were caused by "illegal" fishing netting and their legs got trapped in the sharp hooks.

For the time being, the swans will stay at Swan Supports site in Datchet.

Wendy Herman said: "Things have changed and its very busy since the coronavirus started, just today we had to rescue two swans from North Lake as their legs were badly injured from netting.

"We believe it was because of poachers who put lines in the water, the swans then get trapped in the hooks.

Police said they were called to South Hill Park following reports of three males fishing at the lake.

A spokesman said: "The force received a report at approximately 2.10pm on Thursday (2/4) that three males were fishing in North Lake, just off South Hill Road in Bracknell. Officers attended the scene."
