Some residents on social media have pointed out that many of Bracknell Forest’s parks are still being visited by big groups.

Councillor John Harrison, Bracknell Forest Council’s public protection boss, said: “We understand that access to green spaces is important for our residents’ health and wellbeing, particularly during these difficult and unprecedented times.

“You should only be visiting green spaces for one form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with a member of your household.

Bracknell News:

“Where possible please, start and finish your walks from home, using nearby green spaces, and don’t travel unnecessarily.

“When exercising, you should remain two metres apart from others.

“We also ask that you respect any closures of facilities such as play areas, car parks and leisure and sports facilities, which are in place for our residents’ safety.”

One resident, Leigh Quigg, wasn’t happy about this, however.

She posted on Twitter: “I’m sorry but the more open spaces car parks you close, the more you crowd others making distancing harder — hence the cars on the road by Horseshoe Lake.

“Last eve[ning] Shepherds Meadows [was] busier than ever with walkers accessing from the parking area. Short-sighted decision.”

Council chiefs have also urged residents not to light bonfires and to dispose of any garden waste using brown bins, which will be collected again from today.

Many residents have raised concerns about a number of people leaving dog poo bags on top of or next to closed litter bins.

Cllr Harrison added: “Please take all waste home with you while these bins are closed, so this doesn’t spoil the enjoyment for other park users.

“This allows us to prioritise our resources to deliver essential services and to help those most vulnerable.”
