Many of you kindly write for our Donate A Letter campaign, and have asked whether we still want letters.

After yesterday’s announcement by the UK government, instructing us not to leave our houses other than for essential food shopping, it has become logistically difficult for us to process donated letters.

We know letters are more important than ever at this time but we need to protect our volunteers and workers.

Whilst we cannot right now distribute donated letters, we do still want your letters, which we will keep until a time when they can be sent; no letters will go to waste.

For the writer, the process of writing is mindful and cathartic and very much needed. We encourage you to keeping writing letters, primarily to loved ones who are wholly isolated, and also for Donate A Letter.

To support your letter writing, we will be posting a daily letter prompt on our social media platforms for the next three weeks, we will be judging our spring letter writing competition from the letters received so far, and we will be launching a family letter writing challenge in the coming week.
