A GENEROUS donation of £1,000 was made to a charity following a "successful" fundraising event.
Rotary Club of Bracknell members welcomed the captain of the Gurkha Brigade on Tuesday, March 10, to accept the cheque of £1,000.
Captain Sanjip Rai felt very happy to accept the cheque, which will help Gurkha ex-servicemen and their dependants in their homeland of Nepal and in the UK.
Dave Donaldson, Rotary Club member said: "This donation to the Gurkha Welfare Trust was the result of a very successful Burn's Night Dinner at the Flavell Suite, Sindlesham Court, held on Saturday 25th January attended by 125 people.
"Captain Rai, who is stationed at Sandhurst Military Academy, gave a very interesting talk about the Brigade of Gurkhas who are long established as an essential part of the British Army."
