If there is one thing we can do to help others during the coronavirus it is to donate at a foodbank.

That's the latest message from volunteers at Bracknell Food Bank amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Bracknell Food Bank located in the Kerith Community Church on Church Road is needing resident's support more than ever.

In a post on their Facebook page, organisers of the food bank have noticed less food donations coming into the centre. It said: "Our wonderful volunteer team are dedicated to ensuring that people get the support they need during this difficult time with the threat of the corona virus.

"We envisage that the demand for Foodbank is likely to go up during this health crisis, however we have noticed that donations seem to have dropped over the last couple of weeks."

Currently, the Food Bank is accepting donations at the regular collection points at Kerith Community Church, Tesco's, Sainsbury's and Waitrose.

It comes after thousands of shoppers across Berkshire are "panic buying" in a bid to stockpile on food and toiletries in case they need to quarantine at home.

However this has seen less items of long-life food such as pasta, tins and essentials being donated by members of the public.

Claire Mathers, who works at Bracknell Food Bank said: "Here at Bracknell Foodbank we are committed to providing emergency food supplies to all who need it during this difficult uncertain time.

"We are only able to do so with the support of our fantastic local community so we would really appreciate anyone who is able to help provide food donations as it likely that the number of people using our service will increase during this health crisis.

"We are able to accept supermarket deliveries to the Kerith Centre Monday-Fridays 10am-5pm which may be the easiest way for people to donate, or continue to use the collection points at local supermarkets."
