The school has confirmed that they are taking Public Health England's advice "perfectly".

A spokesman for Keep Hatch Primary School said: "Keep Hatch followed Public Health England advice perfectly and pupils are staying away as purely a precautionary measure."

It comes after another school in Wokingham told pupils to self-isolate after a year 12 pupil came into contact with another family member who has been tested for the Covid-19.

In a letter to parents, seen by the Wokingham News, the headteacher of St. Crispins School said the student is quarantining at home to prevent the spread of the virus to the school.

Ginny Rhodes, headteacher, said: "Over the weekend, it has been reported to me that a Year 12 student has been in direct contact with another family member who has a confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19.

"As a result, Public Health England has requested our student and the family to self isolate.

"I recognise that it is very unsettling to have a student who has had direct contact with a diagnosed case however in line with Public Health England advice I am assured that the risk to others remains low and that it is safe for the school to be open."
