AN infant school in Woodley has reopened today (March 11) following a deep clean after a teacher tested positive for coronavirus.

Willow Bank Infant School has reopened today and Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) explained "all schools in borough are now open as normal".

A teacher at the school tested positive for coronavirus in February and following the news the school closed for a deep clean.

WBC has revealed there have now been three confirmed cases in the Wokingham borough, including the member of staff at Willow Bank Infant school, who is in a treatment centre in London.

A spokesperson for WBC explained the teacher "is doing well in the unit in London".

They added there "have been no positive cases resulting from tests carried out on the member of staff’s contacts – or from any other contact tracing in Wokingham Borough to date".

Councillor Charles Margetts, executive member for adult social care and public health, said: “Wokingham Borough Council is working with health colleagues to do everything we can to help reduce the risk of further cases and safeguard our local school and community.

“Good hygiene is the best prevention and there are some simple steps you can take to protect you and your family by washing your hands regularly and thoroughly and if you cough, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.

“If you have recently been to one of the affected countries and are feeling unwell, you should phone the NHS 111 helpline for further advice straight away – please don’t go to your doctor or a hospital.
