MAKING music will be at the centre of a care home aiming to combat loneliness amongst its elderly residents.

Gracewell of Ascot in Burleigh Road will be launching its Memories and Music Club on Monday, March 30.

The club will help residents chat to one another over a slice of cake and tea, while enjoying musical entertainment on the last Monday of every month from 10.30am to 12pm.

Residents will get to make music with ukuleles and other instruments as a way to make memories.

Stella Putt, general manager at Gracewell of Ascot, said: “We know loneliness is a huge issue amongst older people, and it is great to be able to invite local people to join us for events at our lovely home.

"It also means our residents are able to make new friends and they can feel involved within the wider Ascot community. We are all really excited to launch the Memories and Music club!"

The care home regularly hosts events aimed at helping people with dementia with a The World Rocks Against Dementia event on Saturday, March 28.

Any local families affected or living with dementia can visit the care home and have a chat from 2,30pm.
