A FRUSTRATED neighbour says three-week rubbish collections will be "terrible" after her recycling was refused because it was too full.

The resident from Warfield, Bracknell, felt surprised after waking up to find her blue bin was not collected on Wednesday morning.

The blue bin (as pictured above) shows the lid slightly open and she says the problem will only get worse when collections go to three weeks.

Currently, recycling, non-recycling and garden waste is collected every two weeks.

Under new plans set to begin in October, non-recycling green bins will be collected every three weeks as new food waste bins are collected weekly.

She said: "Despite my bin being much more over full than this in the past, it has always been collected.

"I phoned the council as I assumed it had just been forgotten, but unfortunately I was told that it had not been collected as it was too full. The lid has to be shut."

The resident claimed the council were not very helpful and said she would have to go to the dump.

Damian James, assistant director, contract service at Bracknell Forest Council, said: “Our waste collection teams work hard to ensure every resident’s bin is emptied on their collection day. However, there are a number of reasons why this may not be possible, which are available on our website.

“Should a resident find their bin was not collected, we would encourage them to check our missed collection information and report it to us via our website so we can investigate the matter. "Unfortunately in this case, the missed bin collection was not reported.”

The council website explains that if the bin is more than 75kg then it wont be collected as the crews cannot move the bin.

In this case, you will need to take some things out of your bin and either take them to a recycling centre, pay for an extra collection or wait for the next scheduled collection.

However, the Bracknell resident says this is just putting her off recycling.

She added: "So what if there is more recycling than the bin, surely this is a good thing. As this is recycling and not just general waste I think this is terrible. Are we not meant to be recycling more?

"When collections go to 3 week I can not see how the lids are going to be able to close on both the green and blue bins."
